a comfy place for all of our SBS Sisters

The point of this blog was to have a central local that all SBS Groups could meet and share. Just to share great ideas for each of the groups and to post what’s going on in your groups. What works…ideas…etc.

It was a good idea lost in the lack of time and help. If anyone would like to help moderate this blog and see what else could be done with it…please let me know. If we all decide it to be a lost cause. Then it can just do as it has…hang out! lol

Terribly sorry the plans for this blog didn’t quite pan out. Once a few of us started announcing that we were starting our own Yahoo (now turned Ning for SBS2) Groups…the Sisters scattered and there wasn’t much of a need for this blog for everyone to visit. KWIM?

Anywho…lack of time and a very neglected blog (here) is what we have at the moment.

Feel free to post ideas or suggestions. Thanks!

Our group has done a few challenges…nothing permanent. We have done several swaps that have had different hostesses. WE are getting ready to begin another round of Secret Sisters. We had a blast with it the first round. WE have a very talented swapper in our group that has done a ribbon swap, brad swap, and next is a “bling” swap. There’s been a bella swap and several image swap groups. Our group has become great friends and we truly enjoy one another and of course our talents that we share are an amazing bonus.

WE have an RAK list in place as well. One of girls had a tragedy this year (she lost part of her home to a fire) and our girls pulled together and sent her some stamps, supplies, and many, many things to help get her craft supplies built back up. It was truly a heartfelt RAK for our sister.

An update on SBS group 10

Just to let you all know about what’s going on with SBS10, we have started a private blog viewable and editable (is that a word?) by all members of our sisterhood group.  We have started posting two-week challenges within our group, taking turns hostessing the challenge.  Our challenges are created by one member and that member is responsible for coming up with all the “rules” associated with the challenge.  Then, we all create our take on the challenge and post them to our personal blogs.  We have all become very good friends and it’s nice to have someone to talk to… someone to call “friend” even though you may have never met.  We continue to view and comment on each others’ personal blogs and have set up a sidebar on our group blog with links to each member’s blog.  We also have a sidebar to include our addresses and birthdates for RAK usage.  Another sidebar was added to link up our challenges (just in case we can’t get to them in the original two-week period).  All in all, our group has worked out wonderfully and we are growing to become fast friends… fwith relationships that will likely last a lifetime.  Sarah from Craftaholics Anonymous set up our blog for us and really took a leap into making our group so successful, but I must admit, we support our sisterhood as a group… sharing responsibilities, ideas, and concerns.

Ladies-

I just wanted to let you know that I have started a new job and I am seriously limited with my online time. So please be patient as I work on getting the Group Admins set up and organized. If more than one have asked to be a Group Admin for a group…please decide if you want to work together or if only one will be the Group Admin. From experience it is much easier to have a back-up or a helper. So PLEASE do consider having two and divide duties…it truly makes life easier and you will be able to enjoy your group more without soul pressure of keeping things going.

I also suggest having people in within your group organize events such as: Swaps, Challenges, RAK Groups, and other group activities. If everyone can get involved it works so much better (and definitely smoother).

If you have questions I gave my email address when I sent out invites. Feel free to email but PLEASE PLEASE title it SBS and whatever your question pertains to as I receive tons of mail and have limited online time since I began working outside of our home (closed the home daycare).

Thanks for all you do, have done, and will do…if you need ideas or help just post here or email me. Everyone here is willing to help. ENJOY YOUR GROUPS!

Organize getting-to-know you activities…those are the best. Let people use their talents IE: Swap Coordinators, Computer Techies, Organizational Skills…you will figure it out…I have faith.

PLEASE COME BACK AND SHARE WHAT has worked for your group it may help a new group leader make her group more successful. *MWAH* and many, many thanks!

It’s been a while since anyone posted here so I thought I would do a quick share of what’s going on in Group 2. Actually, we have many things going on at the moment. I thought something might click for someone else’s group.

Our Secret Sister Swap has been such a blast. Everyone has really enjoyed participating.

One of the girls started an Image Swap. They are doing them in small groups of 5 (correct me if I’m wrong sisters) so that it is easier to participate.

Our next big project is a Scrapbook Round Robin…not too sure of the name just yet but the idea is to make a page about yourself to swap with the group. We will make pages for everyone that participate’s and send them all to Ann Marie (our swap co & the gal behind this brilliant idea). Ann Marie has volunteered to put the pages together via a spiral bound book. Amazing. I can’t wait to see the results of this project. We will definitely share some pics.

I hope that everyone else is enjoying their groups as much as we are. One thing we have to be more aware of is that we are a large group so for some swaps it is neccessary to consider splitting the group up a bit. So far, we are managing beautifully and we really do feel like a sisterhood!

Maria is a member of SBS2 and she offers many sketches on her blog.

And the other Sketch Challenge is SC154. I had to share this challenge as it is a sketch used from one of my cards. Here’s the card that inspired the sketch: Tracy’s Card.

Here’s the Sketch:

Feel free to adjust the layers a bit on SC154 if you need to…I realize I love layers so you can tone it down if you need to. But please keep the main layers visible.

Thanks so much! PLEASE post your cards on you blog…feel free to use the codes given and post to your gallery on SCS and on Embellish-It Online.

Happy Thursday!

Welcome to the SBS Cafe!  Now we have a central place to chat and share ideas.

What would you like to see our little group do?

Leave me a comment with any ideas or even if you are running your own challenge on your blogs, I can post a notice up here for you so that all your sisters know when you have a challenge running!

Hello everyone! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I have announced on the SBS2 Yahoo Group but I wanted to also announce here what are plans are in case this idea will work for your group as well.

Here’s our plan:

SBS Secret Sister Swap

1. Email (optional)
2. Send 2 (or more) cards between 1.15.2008-2.15.2008
3. Send a reveal card by the end of February.
4. Share two cards you receive on your blog.

This is a Card Swap, small gifts are optional. I wanted to make the first Swap for our group as stress-free as possible.

Another thing one of our members did was create a Questionairre for us to share on our Yahoo Group. It has been fun getting to know each other in this manner.
